How To Apply Your Decal
Vinyl decals are essentially just adhesive-backed stickers. A decal is cut from a single piece of vinyl. The excess is ‘weeded’ away (removed by hand) leaving just the image. Clear transfer tape is then applied over the top. This temporary layer holds all the pieces together while applying the transfer sticker.
They are fun a way to decorate your window, car, laptop, and other sturdy surfaces.
Here's an easy to follow guide on decal application:
Decal without transfer tape
Simply peel the decal off the white backing/release liner and stick it onto a dry, clean and smooth surface.
Decal with transfer tape
- Clean the application surface before applying the decal—remove all dirt, dust, grease, etc.
- Cut the decal as close to the design as possible. (N/A to die-cut decals)
- Pull off decal from the backing/release liner.
- Carefully place decal on desired surface.
- When in place use a squeegee/credit card or apply pressure with your fingers across the decal and smooth it out.
- Slowly remove the top layer of transfer tape.
Tips:
- Use rubbing alcohol to clean. This helps the decal glue adhere to the surface better.
- The more complicated your design, the more thoroughly you would want to ensure it's properly adhered and the more cautiously you would want to be while removing the transfer tape after application.
